January

Nice title, eh? It's winter-when all creativity hibernates. January in a nutshell...
  • Celebrated my 10th Anniversary to my wonderful hubby. A couple years ago I told Jon I wanted to go to Costa Rica for our 10th. That didn't happen and I figured why spend $$$ on a hotel where I don't sleep well and we'd still be covered in smog. So we had a "staycation". We shipped the kids off to Grandma Sue and Nana for the weekend and enjoyed a relaxing fun weekend at the movies, going out to eat, relaxing, sleeping in and paying bills. Yes, paying bills. I told Jon we wouldn't be doing that if we were in Costa Rica. His response, "Well we're not in Costa Rica AND we're responsible." HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
  • Enjoyed a yummy lunch at Blue Lemon with my new friend Emily!
  • Did a lot of hosting which was fun...and made me clean my house. We had Dacia, Olivia and Eli for a playdate and lunch. They are so cute and Rylee thinks Olivia is super cool!
  • The next night we had Rachael and her little guy Chase over for pizza dinner. Chase has gotten so big and once Rylee stopped trying to take everything from him we all had a good time.
  • The following day we met Cami, Justin and Hannah at Kangaroo Zoo to release some of our suppressed energy. We were the only ones there for awhile so the kids had a blast doing whatever they wanted.
  • That night I hosted one of our ward's dinner groups. We had the Thomas', Isom's and Bell's for a lasagna dinner. I love getting to visit with different people outside of the church setting when you actually get beyond just a "hello".
  • The next night, Saturday, we went to dinner at Wingers for Jon's upcoming birthday! Garrett and Rylee think free popcorn is the greatest idea ever. And to top it off...free birthday ice cream, luckily Dad shares!
  • On Sunday, Shellie made Jon a delicious steak and shrimp dinner!
  • Monday the 18th was Jon's 32nd Birthday! Yahoo!!! His dad took us to dinner at Brick Oven, a family tradition at this point and it was so fun to sit around a visit. That makes 3 consecutive nights that I didn't have to cook! Must be my birthday too!
  • On Wednesday I dumped my kids off at Alisa's and took my mommy to lunch. A whole lunch without interruptions...we still didn't get to say everything we wanted to! We'll have to go again.
  • That night was New Beginnings. We have AWESOME Young Women leaders in our ward. It looked beautiful, food was great, uplifting speakers. A great night!!!
  • Chanel and her kids came down on Friday to play. It had been far too long so it was nice to catch up and let the kids play together. Rylee is still asking me about Lake and Libby!
  • We watched Alisa's kids for the weekend while she was in St. George. My kids have the best cousins and absolutely loved spending the night with them. The next day we got up and Jon took us all to Wendy's and then we hit the library. I've got the best nieces and nephews, all 12 of them!
  • Alisa and I spent an afternoon making cards and eating cheesecake.
  • Had book club and got to see my old ward friends again! I made a list of all the books we've read and the order of book picking to email to our group. It's cool to look back at all these wonderful books and see what I've learned and been inspired by...several of which I probably wouldn't have picked myself. My new favorite - The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
  • Spent an awesome weekend with girlfriends. Shopping, eating, movies, games, relaxing and just being a girl. So fun!
  • At some point during the month my daughter potty trained herself. I have to admit I discouraged it a little assuming that since Garrett was so easy I'd definitely not get the same luck with another. Apparently the potty gods are in my court, thank goodness! She's so excited to wear big girl princess underwear and her two accidents were devastating - getting those princesses wet is almost unforgivable.
  • FINALLY SAID GOODBYE TO THIS DREADFUL MONTH WE CALL JANUARY!
