Miscellany

Life in our home has been pretty...standard. But here are a few tidbits. I tried my hand at sewing when a friend's little girl was playing at our house and I asked where her mommy got her darling skirt, to which she replied, "she made it!". I got the pattern and took Ry to the fabric store to let her pick out the fabric. Now, I'm not a seamstress and was a little shocked when it rang up for $23. You can't very well put back cut fabric so I decided I'd hit WalMart and get some cheapo fabric to do a couple test drives before I started in on the quality merchandise. It was a good thing. The first go round I didn't double the length and thus ended up with a much less poofy skirt and it was pretty long. The second try was a little better but the fabric was stiff and I broke the thread three times while trying to gather. Finally with a little help from my Mom it turned out pretty cute...
After changing some of the pattern directions and the length I finally got to the original fabric Ry picked out and she LOVED it so it was all worth it!
Shellie had given us the swing set that was at their old house. It's been sitting in our backyard all winter waiting for spring to come. The end of April we finally had someone come set it up. The kids watched for 2 hours and as soon as they were given clearance around 12:00 they hopped right on the "Swing Set" or "Play Set" or "Tree House" or "Play Place" as they are calling it.
They spent 8 hours playing on this the first day!!! Since then we've logged some serious play time on the swing set.
TULIP FESTIVAL
My friend Crystal and I went to the gardens to check out the 1,000,000+ tulips. Okay, they weren't all out at the same time but beautiful none the less.
My kids love this place!
We had a picnic, let the kids run around and after 4 hours headed home. I LOVE the tulip festival.
BIG NEWS!!! Garrett is riding a two wheeler! He's been so afraid to get on that last winter I told Jon we should just sell his nearly new bike since he'll outgrow it before he gets on it.
Saturday the 8th of May I looked out the window and Jon had him on the bike and was helping him and then just let go. He was so happy with his big accomplishment...so am I!
